Maybe you’ve started following some personalities on social media that are talking about reducing dairy and animal consumption. Now, you're wondering - what exactly does it take to start?
This is for you if you are ready to get into the nitty gritty of how diet and lifestyle choices matter to your current and future health. We will discuss assumptions that we have about healthcare in the U.S., conflicts of interest regarding the current dietary guidelines, learn myths and facts about common diet and lifestyle choices, determine which risk factors YOU may have for chronic disease, and help you chart a path toward staying healthy and living longer. This is a multi-session class.
Did you know that 6 of the top 10 causes of death in America are lifestyle related? If your family has a history of heart disease, cancer, COPD, stroke, diabetes or dementia/Alzheimer's, then you may already be charging down a path on which you don’t want to remain. The good news is that you may be able to “recalculate” and take a different path. This class will provide you information about how diet and lifestyle impact these diseases and what can be done to improve your odds.
Over 80% of those residing in nursing and assisted living facilities are doing so because of mobility issues. If you want to live a full life at home, without assistance, well into your later years, then this is the class for you. Diet and lifestyle choices now can help you stay off meds and stay out of the nursing home. We’ll discuss protein needs, calcium and bone density, Vitamin D and your immune system, sex without the purple pill, exercise, and more!
Weight gain, hair loss, hot flashes, painful intercourse, and brain fog are just some of the more common menopause symptoms experienced by women. The healthcare community’s solution is pills and creams that have been shown to cause more serious and life-threatening issues down the road. The good news is that there may be more effective, natural solutions. This class will discuss some of the causes of the symptoms mentioned above and how lifestyle changes may impact them.
Did you know that it is believed that 70% of your immune system resides in your gut? The 2-3 lbs of food that you fill your gut with every day either help to build up that immune system or tear it down. Learn more about building a strong defense system through your eating habits and other lifestyle choices.
Make salads that provide an “explosion of tastes” in your mouth. This class will show you how to construct salads that provide a welcome variety from the same-old salad.
This class will show you how to make 3 different sauces for a variety of meals, including stir fry and veggie bowls.
Date TBD: You’re ready to make a change for your health. Now what?! During this session, you will learn the basics of diet and lifestyle choices that impact our health and how to make choices that increase your chance for a long, healthy life. Topics include getting started, exercise, cooking for the family (even if they aren’t with you), and you will leave with a plan of action. A meal is provided, as well as samples to help you find some new favorites as you move forward with confidence.
